Steve Boon
Chief Operations Officer
e-mail
Steve hails from Philadelphia, but acknowledges Texas as home for the past 18 years. His interest in the chemical dependency field began in 1994 as he pursued his counseling degree, but soon into the coursework, he realized his real calling toward the business side of the treatment industry. He quickly learned the financial side of the daily operations, from insurance contract negotiations, billing, collections, pre-certification, to accounts payables and receivables and has worked in this arena for the past 12 years.
Steve has a personal connection with EAI in that he is a proud alumnus. During his time at EAI and afterwords, Steve was an integral participant in the Sober Recreation Committee, and served as chairman of the SRC Softball League. When given the opportunity to become one of the business owners, the decision was an easy one. Today, Steve is the Chief Operations Officer and is responsible for all AP and AR duties, as well as Human Resources and Facility Operations.
When asked about his mission for EAI, Steve responded, "I want to create a space for men to recover from the devastations of alcohol and drug abuse and to return to a life filled with joy, love and success."
Steve is happily married to the love of his life, Julie, and together they enjoy hunting, fishing and the great outdoors. Steve gives of himself to support men in recovery, and is an active member of the ManKind Project Houston/New Warrior program.
Julie Boon
Chief Financial Officer
e-mail
Julie Boon was born in Germany, but has spent most of her life in Texas. She had a successful career for 15 years in the interior design and retail furniture industry with her family’s store, Harris Furniture Studio, located in the West University area for almost 60 years. Julie brings the unique experience of ownership and management of a successful family business to the EAI environment.
Julie has claim to having the longest history at EAI – back to the time before EAI existed. Her journey in recovery began in 1987 when she was in treatment with EAI’s founder, Darrel Salvaggio. Her first “real” job was working at Sal’s Auto Sales – the used car lot owned by Darrel and Tony Salvaggio. A few years later – EAI came to life at this same location, and thrived over the years. Julie stayed involved at EAI and was fortunate enough to meet her husband Steve at an EAI event. The years passed, and when the opportunity to purchase EAI presented itself in 2005 – it was an easy decision and choice for her to make.
"I have spent half of my life involved in recovery and at EAI in one way or another. It is part of my past and my future, and has defined the woman I am in many ways. Of course I have a sentimental attachment, and I know how many families have been helped and lives that have been saved here–that’s why I have chosen to stay after all of these years."
Julie serves as Chief Financial Officer at EAI, and is responsible for management of the budgets, accounting and financial integrity of the company, as well as supervision of much of the support staff. She also is a proud member of the Woman Within community, and serves on their Board of Directors. She is passionate about sewing, cooking, gardening, fishing and spending time in the outdoors.
